i have been doing lots of work, but still less. i have been learning adult life slowly. i have found myself able, now that the university setting is behind me, to balance life, keep a calendar, get enough sleep most of the time, eat enough food to care for my body, invest in my personal art and hobbies, and hold a stable relationship. Insane, how many of the problems i thought were problems with me were actually problems with the lifestyle that a degree program forced me into.

it’s my second summer after college in a small indiana town with my perfect partner. i changed jobs in january, from prep and dish in the back of a restaurant to a shop assistant in a contemporary art gallery. i don’t recommend working in a restaurant long-term, but many artists do, and i think it makes sense. the act of creation is always happening there as well. however, i find myself someone who dislikes repetition. preparing the same ingredients for the same dishes. if i owned a little restaurant one day, the dishes would change every week. But, i don’t have plans for that. i want to pour as much creativity out into the world around me as possible. i have been drawing and framing, mostly. i have been working with sand clay (salt dough with sand incorporated). things improve mostly, in my little experience, but at this time the larger world has been facing a lot of political turmoil and frustration. i hope to face all things warn more clarity now, and heal from even the things i didn’t know had hurt me.
